The school has a population of over 200 students and already shows optimism of having a greater number of students due to its impact in the area. Nyatigo Mixed secondary school is 4 years old and this year's form four students will be making a debut in the coming Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.
recently Nyatigo Mixed secondary school has shown promise under the leadership of their principal Mr. Kennedy Oguta who has been passionate about achieving the vision of making Nyatigo Mixed secondary school a trusted school of excellence in providing quality education.
the best days for Nyatigo are Not far.
they have four class rooms which hold form one students to form fours respectively. They also have 3 teachers employed by the Teachers service commission and eight others employed by the school on contractual basis.
the school has set apart a portion of land for the agriculture students to undertake their K.C.S.E  exam projects.
They have other facilities like kitchen facility which caters for the preparation of meals for the students, a store for the storage of food stuffs ,toilet facilities and the administration facility which houses the staff room and principal's office.
among the major facilities they lack are the laboratories for students to carry out their practical. their reliance on purely on other schools that have labs in case of a national exam a very big disadvantage as it does not place them on a level playing field with other schools nationwide. those were the sentiments shared by one form 3 students by the name phoebe Elizabeth

"Our major challenges are laboratories. We want our students to put to practice the theoretical knowledge by doing practicals on a regular basis. This will give a massive boost in terms of performance in physics chemistry and biology. Teachers avoid preparing reagents in classrooms because of safety. Therefore laboratoris are safe spaces for preparation of reagents i.e fumehoods. Finally, the construction of a laboratory facility will also aid in attitude change towards sciences among students...." Mr. ouma chemistry teacher
